Country Dance Lessons

Come down and learn country two-step and line dancing at the VFW, every Tuesday night from 7-8pm!

VFW members and Bona Fide guests of all levels are welcome; whether you are a seasoned dance veteran, or an absolute beginner, there is a place for you here! The class is free, though $5 donations are encouraged and go towards supporting the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7686 . Lessons are taught by Kiefer Palm, who has over 15 years of experience. Free School Lunches

Enroll for the National School Lunch Program in the Student Nutrition Services Office at the APS Administration Building (1211 Hawaii, Alamogordo)! All students in the Alamogordo Public School district are eligible to receive a healthy school breakfast and lunch at no charge – regardless of household income. Referees for Middle and High School Basketball

Alamogordo, Cloudcroft and Tularosa district schools are looking for men and women to referee middle school, freshman, and J.V. basketball games, as soon as possible. Experience is preferred, but not required. Training is available and refs will receive payment for every game they call. For more information, contact Chris Black at 575-446-2125.

Repaving White Sands Boulevard

The middle and two northbound lanes of White Sands Boulevard are being repaved in front of 210 N. White Sands Blvd. The southbound lanes between 2^nd and 3^rd Street have been reduced to two lanes, accommodating traffic in both directions. Please follow all road signs and proceed with caution, as crews and equipment will be working on the roadway. The City of Alamogordo thanks you for your patience and cooperation. Farmer’s Market

The Otero County Farmer’s Market runs every Saturday from 8am until noon. The event features over fifty vendors, selling items ranging from hand crafted merchandise to locally grown produce and agricultural products. The Great Global Greyhound Walk

Calling all dog owners and dog lovers! The Great Global Greyhound Walk – a worldwide celebration of greyhounds, lurchers, and other sighthounds- is happening in Alamogordo on Sunday, September 27^th. All dog breeds are welcome to join the leashed walk through Alameda Park, which will start at the Chamber of Commerce at 8am. Voter Registration

Register to vote at the County Clerk’s office, 1104 N. White Sands Blvd, Suite C. They are open Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 6:00pm, except for public holidays. Civil Air Patrol

The Civil Air Patrol is looking for new members, aged 12 to 17, who are interested in learning search and rescue techniques, aerospace education and developing life and career skills. Marathon at HAFB

Holloman Air Force Base is holding their annual “Ace of Races” marathon on October 10, 2026. Multiple events will be held, including a full marathon, a half-marathon, a 5K and a 1 mile fun run for children. The full course is on Holloman and is USA Track and Field certified; this race can be used as a qualifier for nationally ranked marathons. National Nite Out

The Tularosa Basin Regional Dispatch Authority and the Otero County Sheriff’s Office are hosting the 2026 “Take Back The Night” Event on October 9th, starting at 6:00pm. The event will be held at the Otero County Fairgrounds Pavilion, and aims to bring residents, organizations, businesses and public safety officials together to strengthen the bonds of our community. Volunteer Drivers

The Alamogordo Senior Center has a great need for volunteer drivers to deliver meals to home-bound elderly citizens. Volunteers would work between 10:30 and noon on weekdays, on days of their choosing, and receive a mileage reimbursement. For more details, contact the director of the Senior Centre at 575-439-4150

Salvation Army Seeks Donations

There is a high demand for food donations to help feed those in need in Otero County. Please bring canned goods (fruit, meat, vegetables), dry goods (cereal, rice, noodles, dry beans), peanut butter, fruit juice, bottled water and any other non-perishable products you can spare to the Salvation Army Center; 1900 East 1st Street.
